A History of Innovation

Luxtronix began as Kern Electronics Inc., founded in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1985. Products developed include life-safety systems, network protocol converters, drive-thru service-enhancement systems, and in 2004, the pioneering of large, sunlight viewable outdoor LCD displays in Canada.

Major clients included Seimens, Panasonic, PAR Microsystems, and McDonald’s Restaurants (worldwide).

AutoBAG(tm) Order Accuracy System

The Autobag system achieved Global Approval for all McDonald’s Restaurants in 2004. It virtually eliminated customer complaints in drive-thru and became mandatory operating equipment in some markets.

VIDIGraphic(tm)Video Drive-Thru System

Developed over 25 years ago for McDonald’s Restaurants, the VIDIGraphic(TM) System was one of the first customer order displays available for drive-thrus and the first to incorporate live 2-way video. The system was patented in Canada, and recently redeveloped in full-digital.

Luxtronix pioneered the development of large super-bright LCDs in Canada in 2004. Since then we have deployed thousands of outdoor LCDs, more than all other firms in Canada combined.

“E-Sign” Self-Printing Sign System

A unique concept of a self-printing “near-digital” sign. Simply a sign structure with a built-in wide-format ink jet printer and spooling/display system. Patent protected in the United States, this concept was never commercialized. The Patent is currently for sale.
