Luxtronix began as Kern Electronics Inc., founded in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1985. Products developed include life-safety systems, network protocol converters, drive-thru service-enhancement systems, and in 2004, the pioneering of large, sunlight viewable outdoor LCD displays in Canada.
Major clients included Seimens, Panasonic, PAR Microsystems, and McDonald’s Restaurants (worldwide).

The Autobag system achieved Global Approval for all McDonald’s Restaurants in 2004. It virtually eliminated customer complaints in drive-thru and became mandatory operating equipment in some markets.
